Press G to target the nearest enemy and H for the nearest friend. At stations, shift + left click on a target to open the trade window (if docked), left click on an item to select it, right click to buy/sell, and use 1 - 9 on the items window to adjust the quantity. Press C to switch to combat mode and T to travel mode when docked.
